  • SCLTC, South Cowichan Lawn Tennis Club Tournaments, Grass Court Socials and Tournaments, Founded in 1887

The club has a total of 9 courts, 7 grass and 2 hard. The grass season starts mid May and ends mid September. The hard courts, complete with a concrete practice board, are open year round.

The clubhouse has a lovely lounge area with a fully licensed bar, TV and Wifi. The Bent Racquets Bar is open to visitors to the club as well as members. The washrooms offer shower/changing facilities. The large veranda overlooks the courts with a view out to Cowichan Bay and mountains of Saltspring island beyond. The clubhouse is surrounded by mature trees, herbaceous gardens and lawns where spectators can sit to enjoy the play or just take in the spectacular scenery and wonderful ambience.

On Vancouver Island, close to the historic waterfront village of Cowichan Bay, you will find the lush grass courts of the South Cowichan Lawn Tennis Club. We are very proud of our tennis heritage. The noble game of lawn tennis has been played here in the beautiful Cowichan Valley since 1887. We are one of the oldest lawn tennis clubs in the world and the oldest club in Canada still playing on grass. Read about the club’s complete history here.

We take great pride in our beautiful facilities... the courts, clubhouse and our lovely herbaceous gardens nestled in the shade of two majestic maple trees. The club is run and staffed by volunteer members. We welcome new members of all ages and abilities and encourage visitors, playing and non-playing, to stop by to appreciate our past and enjoy our present. Learn about becoming a member here.
